Wood Pellets (International Sales)

We have developed two wood pellet facilities in Eastern Canada that can produce wood pellets for industrial use.

Wawa Facility: Rentech converted a former oriented strand board processing mill in Wawa that is capable of producing wood pellets that can be shipped for export though the Port of Quebec.

Atikokan Facility: Rentech converted a former particle board processing mill that supplies 45,000 tonnes of pellets annually to Ontario Power Generation. Rentech has formed a partnership with Great North Bio Energy to work with First Nations in the operation of the Atikokan project.

Port of Quebec: The Port of Quebec, located along the Saint Lawrence Seaway, provides a direct and expedient route from Eastern Canada to Europe. It is an inland port suitable for Panamax vessels, providing important economies of scale. Rentech has a long-term contract with Quebec Stevedoring Company Limited. to provide stevedoring, terminalling and warehousing services at the Port of Quebec. Rentech has access to 75,000 tonnes of pellet storage for its exclusive use at the port. Offering year-round terminal access, the Port of Quebec is expected to become the largest bulk pellet terminal in Eastern Canada as a result of this contract.

Local Job Creation: We seek candidates from the local communities, including those from the First Nations communities in Canada.

Sustainability: Our Canadian pellet facilities will consume sustainably managed fibre from Ontario Crown forests.
